"UNCW POP has been the epitome of my UNCW existence. This organization was founded off the minds of those who want to care and protect for our oceans but have the ability to see beyond the norm. We have used these minds to mold what is the most amazing web of ideas and created change that someone couldn't compete in their entire lifetime. Having such similar but different minds makes our environment thrive and creates an outlet that provides change. Being a part of this has only made myself a better person because we are making the world a better place" |
"Stepping into the role of chapter president following the amazing leadership of our chapter founder, Luke Anders, was such a wonderful opportunity! During my time in the chapter, Topsail POP hosted trash sweeps, recruited Ocean Friendly Establishments, and created outreach through art initiatives within the community. Hundreds of members have engaged with the goals of Big POP enthusiastically, and seeing these students find a passion for ocean advocacy was one of the highlights of my time in high school. I am so grateful for the mentorship of Bonnie, Kayla, and the other POP staff who encouraged me to network, learn, and educate my peers through this chapter." |
"Being chapter founder and president of CFCC POP was so fulfilling! I watched nearly 40 students jump in with enthusiasm to learn from our guest speakers and help out Big POP. Our members participated in activities such as Seabin research, tabling events, and even Big POP's first ever For the Ocean Gala! Being able to provide students with networking to other local nonprofits through partnerships is something I will always be proud of in my college experience." |
