Well, it sure sounds bad. It sounds overwhelmingly bad.  What can I do?  What would even make a difference?  Little things do add up!

• Join Plastic Ocean Project to support our mission of a plastic-free ocean
• Support Ocean Friendly Establishments
• Support businesses and organizations that support POP!
• Start a POP Chapter in your community 
• Become a POP Ambassador
• Educate others on the plastic ocean pollution problem
• Don't use plastic straws. Purchase bamboo or glass ones, or cut them out altogether!
• Invest in reusable items (i.e. grocery bags, mugs, glassware) instead of one-time use options
• Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Re-purpose!
• Remove your own trash when you visit the beach, lake or park
• Participate in a local clean up or organize your own!
• Buy locally caught fish (discarded fishing nets are a huge problem in the ocean)
• Petition your government to make laws that reduce plastic waste like other countries around the world are doing.  Starboard's Global Legislation Matrix

These are just a few of options that you have.  Some may take an extra minute or an extra quarter, but each will help save you and your family from plastic marine pollution in the future.
