Wilmington, NC Areas of Expertise
Whitney graduated from UNC-Wilmington in 2020. She obtained a B.S in Marine Biology with a concentration in conservation as well as a minor in Sustainability. She has always had a passion for ocean conservation and the species that call it home, which led her to work for NOAA as a marine biologist for a year. She currently works as a research technician at the Algal Resource Collection at UNCW, assisting with a project to develop a photosynthesizing alternative to cement while pursuing a master's degree in Coastal and Ocean Policy. Previously, Whitney volunteered with the Cape Fear Sierra Club beginning in 2020 as their secretary and then moved up to co-chair. This role introduced her to the POP team where she took on the role of Volunteer Coordinator. In this position, her responsibilities include sending out weekly volunteer opportunities and leading our monthly membership/volunteer meetings. Education
