Led by legendary oceanographer Dr. Sylvia Earle, Mission Blue is uniting a global coalition to inspire an upwelling of public awareness, access and support for
a worldwide network of marine protected areas called Hope Spots. Under Dr. Earle’s leadership, the team implements communications campaigns that elevate Hope Spots to the world stage through documentaries, social media, traditional media and innovative tools like Google Earth. Mission Blue also embarks on regular oceanic expeditions that shed light on these vital ecosystems and build support for their protection. POP has teamed up with Mission Blue to establish Hope Spot Hatteras off the coast of North Carolina. |
e v e r b l u e is a social media campaign that seeks to empower ocean-minded lifestyles by encouraging scientific literacy. Their goal is to learn about current marine research, share that knowledge, and use it to change our individual actions for the benefit of the ocean.
We believe that individually, we already have the resources we need to positively affect the future of our oceans; we just need to learn how to use them! Preserving our marine environments starts with acquiring knowledge of the issues they face and applying knowledge to make changes in our daily lives. We are a proud supporter of the UN Clean Seas Campaign. UN Environment (UNE) launched #CleanSeas in February 2017, with the aim of engaging governments, the general public, civil society and the private sector in the fight against marine plastic litter.
The Plastic Ocean Project has agreed to support the Clean Seas Campaign by spreading the campaign's message on social media and our website, as well as by pledging to fight for #CleanSeas. Click here to take the pledge to fight for #CleanSeas. |
